Welcome to Software Testing and Quality Engineering

Better Software Magazine Article by Brian Marick | Comments: (0) | Wed, 06/26/2002 - 14:43
Summary:

Technical Editor Brian Marick introduces the first issue of STQE magazine. He says the magazine "is for people who get their hands dirty, whether by writing tests, cranking out code, managing others, or--perhaps the hardest task of all--being the internal QA consultant who has no direct authority but must somehow persuade ten projects with impossible deadlines to think strategically."

Welcome to Software Testing and Quality Engineering, successor to Software QA Magazine. While we were planning this new magazine, we spent a lot of time worrying about you, the reader. "Who are you?" we asked. Here's our answer:

  • You are really busy.
  • You want a better quality software product, but only at a realistic cost. Right now, you and your company probably rely most heavily on testing, but you also need to understand inspections, metrics, and process improvement techniques.
