CA Technologies Finds Success Promoting Continuous Delivery as STARWEST Premier Sponsor

There’s much more to TechWell conferences than earning certifications and listening to keynotes delivered by industry-leading speakers. The connections you make while attending sessions, networking down on the Expo floor, and learning about new software trends from fellow attendees are also valuable opportunities.

For CA Technologies, the premier sponsor at this year’s STARWEST event in Anaheim, California, at the beginning of October, the goal was to promote continuous delivery and drive continuous testing to a packed convention of engaged, enthusiastic software testers. Of course, highlighting their tools—such as Agile Requirements Designer, API Manager, and API Application Tester—was high on the priority list, but remaining a strong thought leader during an exciting, challenging time in software was a major reason for their presence.

What makes this time in software so challenging? With mobile, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality emerging, companies are forced to adjust how they develop, test, and do business. One way teams are doing so is by taking note of how other organizations or individuals are adapting.

Jonathon Wright, the director of digital assurance at CA Technologies, spoke about his company’s presence at STARWEST and the state of the industry.

“We're seeing these open innovation platforms where technology providers have to partner with each other to build on top of everything,” Wright said. “It's interesting how all these dynamics are changing and shifting what testing challenges organizations are facing now.”

CA at STARWEST

CA Technologies jumped on the opportunity to connect with the more than 1,200 attendees and provide insight on a medley of topics. More than one hundred twenty-five attendees joined CA at their breakfast session, “Risk-Based Testing: Everyone’s Talking about It, but How Many People Are Actually Doing It?” with Huw Price, and many more stopped by CA’s booth on the Expo floor to exchange names, trade business cards, visit the demo stations, and learn more about the company.

Wright also delivered a technical presentation to a mixed live and virtual audience of more than three hundred about going beyond simply testing an API. This presentation focused on the digital testing segment of the industry that Wright is so fascinated by, and a group of people stayed after the presentation to further discuss the topic and what they could bring back to their own teams.

Of course, all this is just the tip of the iceberg. Including a testing podcast with Parasoft, multiple live interviews that were streamed online, a popular evening reception, and countless social media posts, CA Technologies was featured prominently at this year’s STARWEST. The promotional side was great, but the testing information, discussions of industry trends, and personal connections gathered were what made CA’s presence invaluable.
